What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels are a kind of like a chemical exfoliation/abrasion. These peels cause all the old, icky skin cells that cause discoloration, acne, scars and fine lines to slough (or peel) off and regrow new, baby-fresh cells on your face. So it will be as soft, silky and smooth as a baby’s you-know-what. Most spa-goers will require 3-4 treatments.

What can I expect?

You will have an agent applied to your skin at the spa. It will be left on for a few minutes and you may feel slight tingling. Some peels will need to be neutralized with a second agent and some won’t. Like anything, depending on the patient, the strength of the peel, the post-procedure hydration and the phase of the moon, everyone will have different amounts of peeling and some people may not notice any peeling at all.

When will I see results?

This depends on the type of peel. You will usually have peeling and flaking of the skin for about three days to one week, after which time you will begin to see the new, fresh skin begin to regenerate.

How long do the results last?

Results are quite varied and depend upon the patient, how many times you have had it done and what we are treating. You can expect results to last anywhere from two months to two years. The more you baby your skin, the longer your results will last.

In what body areas can I get it?

Face, neck, décolleté, back and buttocks are the most common areas.

Sciton® TRL Resurfacing Laser

What is it?

TRL is tunable resurfacing laser. But more important, what is resurfacing? With this laser, we can tune it to your specific needs and do a light laser "peel" or a deep resurfacing where we remove the old skin and force your body to regrow new, youthful skin.

What can I expect?

You will be numbed and receive some medications to help keep you comfy during the procedure. As we are removing a layer of skin, you can expect some downtime for about 10 days.

When will I see results?

You will already notice some improvement within the first few weeks as the skin regrows, but final results will be apparent closer to three to six months.

How long do the results last?

They are permanent! Because we are removing the old skin and replacing it with brand-new skin, for many and most clients this is a once-in-a-lifetime treatment

In what body areas can I get it?

For our deep resurfacing, we usually limit treatment to face (face has the most blood flow and heals up the fastest). A lot of our clients choose to treat only around their mouth to target their (non)smoker's lines. For the lighter laser peels, we can treat just about any body area!

Sciton® ProFrac Fractional Laser

What is it?

Sciton® erbium laser (2940nm) is an ablative laser, which means that it vaporizes old skin! With ablative lasers, there are two basic methods of treating the skin--full field and fractionated. Fractionated treatment (Sciton® ProFrac) is like aerating the lawn: it's lots of little holes in the grass. Because we leave a lot of healthy tissue behind with fractional, we can treat deeper and recovery is faster! Fractionated laser is great for scarring, texture, large pores and laxity. (And of course, full field and fractionated treatments can be paired up for one rockstar procedure.)

What can I expect?

You will be numbed with some wonderful topical numbing. As we treat, you will titrate your own comfort with laughing gas in one hand and refrigerated air in the other. Many clients do fine with just the numbing, but it’s nice to have options!

When will I see results?

Usually within a week of fractionated treatment skin already feels amazing and makeup goes on smoother! And within a few months, collagen generation begins (the gift that keeps on giving)!

How long do the results last?

Results are permanent, but as you’re probably aware, you will continue to age.

In what body areas can I get it?

Face and neck are most popular, but it is also amazing to help with scarring anywhere on the body (goodbye, surgical scars!).
