That's right: did you know that not everyone is a candidate for Botox? And sometimes it's our unfortunate job as the gilded gals to let certain clients know it's not for them.
The face is the only part of the body where muscle inserts directly onto skin. Everywhere else it connects to bone or tendons. This is why when facial muscles contract, we make wrinkles. Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the muscle to soften lines and prevent further wrinkles from forming (yes, you should be using it preventatively!). When muscles relax, they do the opposite of what they do normally when they contract. What does the big, flat forehead muscle usually do? It wrinkles UPward. So what does it do when we relax it with botulinum toxin? It drops DOWN. Ugh. As such, if you have an itty bitty forehead and somewhat hooded eyelids, you might not be a candidate for forehead Botox. Don't shoot the messenger. This is just a friendly PSA ☺️
